Carbon Composition Resistors have been used for well over 100 years. Today, applications for Carbon Composition Resistors include power supplies and welding controls. These parts consist of a solid cylindrical resistive element (made of a carbon composition) with embedded wire leads or metal end caps to which the lead wires are attached. The body of the resistor is protected with paint or plastic, and color rings are painted onto the body to indicate the resistance value (in Ohms).
Specific attributes which are important in selecting the right Carbon Composition Resistor for your application include: Package Type – usually Axial; Maximum Voltage Rating (V); Power Rating (W); Resistance (Ω); Tolerance (%); Operating Temperature Range (⁰C); Temperature Coefficient (ppm/⁰C); and the part’s Dimensions (mm) – usually length and diameter for these parts.
Our offering of Carbon Composition Resistors from Ohmite features a range of resistance from 0.01 Ω to 15 MΩ. The Power Rating varies from 0.25W to 1.0W.
The parametric search filter allows the user to quickly find the parts they need by filtering the results in real-time.
Additionally, some attributes allow for the conversion of their base type to different types. For example, the attribute group for minimum frequency is shown in MHz. The values can be converted to be shown in KHz or GHz by selecting the conversion type from the ‘Select Conversion’ drop down list.
Any Attribute that does not interest the user can be hidden by clicking on the ‘X” in the upper-right corner of the attribute. To show any hidden attributes, simply click the ‘Unhide Attributes’ button in the bottom of the parametric search filter.
If you are experiencing performance issues, please use a newer browser such as Chrome or Firefox, or disable the ability of the filter to perform dynamic updates by deselecting the checkbox titled ‘Allow Filters to Dynamically Update Parametric Search Attributes’.
