How to Choose an RF Module for Integration: Considerations and Examples

This Empower RF webinar, plus Q&A, which is designed to help you choose the best RF/microwave solid state module for integrating into your application. Up for discussion is the performance, feature set and cost tradeoffs common to making decisions of which module to integrate into your design.

You will learn of the currently available device technologies, their power/bandwidth combinations, and how it effects power density cost per watt. Class A/B Linearity and its interpretation versus waveform use case is covered along with bias current adjustment effects on linearity and efficiency. The differences in efficiency, distortion, IM3, peak power, noise and thermals between broadband and band specific designs will be addressed. The challenges of combining modules for higher power and the common pitfalls, including requirements for protection at the system level will be outlined.

For added context, three actual use cases will be woven into the presentation: a wireless data link, a counter-UAS, and a high-power system amplifier.
