A low-pass filter is a 2-port RF filter that is used in an RF signal path to pass a range of frequencies below a specified cut-off frequency and to suppress (attenuate) the frequencies above the high side of that range. Most commonly, low-pass filters are used in combination with a duplexer or bandpass filter for high-frequency suppression to meet requirements for a second band co-located at higher frequencies or to meet government/industry regulations for high-frequency emissions.
CTS’s low-pass filters can be used with other CTS products, as a stand-alone solution, or as a complement to other filter technologies. All such bandpass filters or duplexers are resonant filters that have reentrant modes that do not provide harmonic suppression. Moreover, the 3GPP industry standards require suppression through 5th-order harmonics. As such, RF designers need “clean-up filters” with minimal insertion loss to suppress—not only for the 2nd- and 3rd-order harmonics, but also 4th- and 5th-order harmonics. CTS low-pass filters provide higher-order harmonic suppression while offering low insertion loss and moderate power handling.
RLF & XLF Low-Pass Filter Families for Harmonic Suppression
RLF Low-Pass Filters
The RLF family of products offers the industry’s lowest insertion loss and superior close-in rejection/attenuation, while providing a complete solution for harmonic rejection, suitable for up to 20 W of average power and 200 W of peak modulated power.
XLF Low-Pass Filters
The XLF family of products offers a uniquely small size and low insertion loss while providing a complete solution for harmonic rejection, suitable for systems of up to 5 W of average output power per antenna port.
CTS’s low-pass filter products uniquely provide higher-order harmonic suppression performance with superior insertion loss and power handling.
